Donating Time

Time is a valuable gift, and we strive to share ours in service to those who need it most.  We have multiple volunteer opportunities and would love for you to join us. Here are just a few ways we get to serve others.

Grace Notes

Once a week we visit individual homes or care facilities to provide comfort through music.  We sing hymns, secular songs, and we’ve even been known to break into a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’.  We always welcome new singers, so if you are interested in being part of this rewarding and caring ministry, leave a message with the church office.

Homeless Shelter

We work in partnership with other churches in the area to provide shelter and supplies to those living on our streets. Our shelter is open every Friday night, December through March. Click here to learn more about how you can help with a donation of time, items, or funds.  If you need more information, you can contact the Homeless Ministry Chairperson, Kelcie Anderson, at

Union Gospel Mission Meal Service

On the third and fifth Wednesday of every month, we volunteer our time to serve a meal to the homeless living on the streets of Portland.

Templeton Backpack Program

Templeton Elementary School has a weekend food program and a food pantry right in the school. This program is designed to support families at our school who are experiencing food insecurity and who may not have enough to eat on the weekends. The food is donated by churches or businesses, or purchased with donated funds. Backpacks are packed at the school and send home with the kids weekly.

This is a wonderful way to get involved and have an impact on children in our community!

How can I help?

Pack backpacks: Wednesdays or Thursdays, less than 2 hours, less than once a month, during the school day only.

Shopper: Shop for specific food items and deliver to Templeton food bank. Shopping can be done any time and delivery to school is between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

Thanksgiving or Winter Break Boxes: We need coordinators for both of these events. Commitment is fall and early December. Project is well defined from past years.
