Though its hard to believe now, cold weather is coming and the blustery, wet days of our Oregon fall and winter will soon be upon us. Many of our local students will be turning to the TTSD Caring Closet to help them stay warm. The Caring Closet has requested that Calvin hold a fall coat drive.
The Bosuns Mariners will spearhead the effort, but the need is great and we desperately need all you to help us. Talk with your family, friends, neighbors, and folks at work to begin gathering new and gently used winter coats in the styles these young people would like. There is a need for children’s size 5 through adult 4XL, for both boys and girls.
Our goal is to have them ready for the kids before it gets cold, so we will be collecting coats on October 7th and 14th.
In addition to the coats, the Caring Closet has asked specifically for warm winter gloves for their high school kids, particularly for the young men and for new boy’s/men’s underwear (boxer style are preferable). Finally, there is always a need for new underwear, socks, and pajamas in all sizes, for either gender. We will have collection bins for all these items.
All donations are tax deductible and we will have receipts for those who want them.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
